OneDrive deleted thousands of my files?
Don't rely solely on OneDrive for backing up your data. Backing up to an SSD drive is a safe practice. Dropbox or Google Docs are reliable alternatives that also allow you to access your files from multiple computers. OneDrive, like many MS products (Power Apps, Co-Pilot, etc.), is half-baked and horribly unreliable. Keep in mind, OneDrive is not designed to be used on only one computer.
Your reply did not seem to help remedy the problem. I have the same problem. In late July or early August OneDrive suddenly erased all my files but let the file structure in place. Microsoft Support has been of no help, even after a schedule telephone call back. The gentleman suggested the only way files were removed was by intentional deletion by a user (i.e., me). My lost data encompasses both personal and professional work and amounts to nearly 300GB of data. I submitted a request to escalate to OneDrive engineering for assistance. No response yet.
