Office 365 Family is going from 6tb (1tb per user) to 2tb shared total.
Now I have to coordinate with my family and discuss the use. How is this even privat? Now I will know how much everyone uses and it is a big cut from previous total. Why this cut?

"More flexible" would be 6 TB of shared storage instead of 1 TB per person.
Going from a potential 6 TB total to 2 TB shared isn't just a flexibility improvement; it is a reduction in included storage. Those are two different things.
If Microsoft had converted the existing 6 TB into a shared pool, I would call that flexibility. Reducing the total capacity by two-thirds and calling it flexibility feels misleading.

Terrible policy and ambiguous details. Not how a serious company does business.

The best thing is how M$ wants to sell this to us as a new flexibility. Frankly said, I don't know anybody in the private area, who is using more than 1TB and if so, you can upgrade for this person.
But with their change it is a reduction from 1TB to 333GB per user, making it very possible that you have to share. But let me guess, there won't be a price reduction for office 365 family.
I'm not sure what angers me more: the fact, that they reduce their product or that they probably think we can't do basic mathematics.
Why not just introduce the sharing possibility without reducing the capacity? - WazMacFudgeOccasional Reader
That is not cool... Perhaps set the limit to 2TB shared and if you go over it automatically extentds by 1TB until you reach the 6TB limit.
This was one of the reasons I moved from a lifetime 2022 licence to o365 and OneDrive.
Microsoft, not cool...
