New family storage limits from 6 TB to only 2 TB

I enrolled in M365 earlier in 2026 because I could sign up for Personal and immediately upgrade to Premium at a discount. So I paid for Premium until April 2028, assuming 6TB total storage. My household currently uses 3 of the 6 accounts with about 1 total TB in use, but the Premium plan included space for growth. I suppose it's nice that other household users will get access to AI in the M365 apps, but that means more use with less available backup space. This is very frustrating, and my guess is that MS extra storage will cost enough to be annoying.

We are all waiting to see who is eligible for the 5TB bonus, and if that is permanent. Also, the M365 consumer signup web page does not match the email, and there is no "Pro" subscription listed. I don't need a petabyte, but 6TB was a nice number for me, and that's why I paid for it.
