MacOS Alias breaks when OneDrive syncs

I work on two computers and I used OneDrive to sync between those computers. When I create a MacOS alias, once it syncs to the cloud, the alias breaks. The alias links to other files in OneDrive. Is there a better way to create aliases in OneDrive, or a reason they break in OneDrive?

I am seeing the same thing, and it appears that OneDrive doesn't understand the special type of filesystem file a macOS alias or UNIX softlink is. In my case it does sync to the cloud, but on other OneDrive clients it appears as a generic document file, and the alias or softlink doesn't work.

This would be a nice feature to have.

I don't know if this ever got a reply solution, but I found a work-around that worked for me. It requires both Macs to have the Universal Clipboard feature, which I think arrived with MacOS Sierra. I created an alias for the original file in OneDrive on the first Mac (which then showed up on the other computer as a unix file) and then command-C copied it to the clipboard. I then command-V pasted it on the second Mac in the same location. It asked if I wanted to keep the old file, keep both or replace it, which I did.
