Getting rid of unwanted shares
Hi — an item under Shared or People does not mean that person has access to your files; it means their item was shared with your account. You also do not need to open or download it.
In OneDrive on the web, open Shared > Shared with you. Select the unwanted item and use Hide from Shared or Remove from shared list if that action is available. If it was added as a shortcut under My files, remove the shortcut only—do not delete the owner's source file. If no hide or remove option is offered, the owner must open Manage access and remove your account, so ask the sender or their organization to revoke the share.
Because this may contain unrelated legal material, avoid opening or forwarding it. If you cannot identify the sender or it looks suspicious, report it as phishing or abuse and ask your Microsoft 365 administrator to check the sharing event. Is the item visible only under Shared or People, or was a shortcut added to My files?
