Everything wiped from LAPTOP as well as OneDrive!
glh23 There is no useful detail amongst your list of grievances (which are of no interest or use to anyone here who might help you).
If you haven't saved your files properly or backed them up somewhere and you failed to renew your subscription then they are almost certainly gone. Be clear, if you do a restore or a format or whatever you did on your device, it is YOU that is wiping the files, not Microsoft. If "space was never an issue" why don't you have a backup? We're two generations into desktop computing and with mroe and more of our files stored electronically, backup is more important than ever.
As with other people who have put all their files in the cloud and then failed to pay the rent, there comes a time when the landlord is simply not going to provide free accommodation any more. It doesn't matter if it's Microsoft, Dropbox, Google or a hundred other cloud storage providers, there is no

I was really emotional when I posted due to illness and the sheer shock of what was happening as I'd lost everything at a time when I was already feeling horrendous.
Regardless of whether I should have backed up to yet another place, the point is not onedrive files going awol but why have things from my actual laptop disappeared? Even if I lost my backups on onedrive, Microsoft themselves have literally removed everything from my laptop as well - how is this even possible or allowed?
Also, as I said, last week I saw them disappear before my eyes when I eventually did a restore which was recommended by Microsoft help and I'd opted for a date when all of these files were definitely saved on both my laptop and on onedrive, prior to the subscription ending (and within the 30 days of official deletion).
Many of the files were literally created on said laptop, not created on other devices and saved in the cloud.
I am trying to comprehend what on earth has happened and why.
I hope this is clearer and someone may be able to offer some advice.

Hi glh23
Was this ever resolved? This exact situation happened to my husband an hour ago and we're desperately trying to find solutions...
- Mike WilliamsJan 22, 2024Iron ContributorI'm sorry but writing "Microsoft themselves have literally removed everything from my laptop as well" is a clear nonsense which I can only compare to my next door neighbour claiming that 50GB of porn appeared on her computer in 30 seconds over a dial-up connection.... but anyway...
You may very well have malware on your computer that has deleted files. Only an experienced tech looking at your computer can diagnose.
