You're running into a fairly common OneDrive for Business connectivity issue — Error 0x8004de40 means:
“OneDrive is having trouble connecting to the internet.”
Try These Fixes in Order
- Check Internet Options (TLS Settings)
- Reset Winsock
- Ensure OneDrive is Allowed Through Firewall
- Disable IPv6 (as a Temporary Test)
- Use OneDrive Troubleshooter
- Fully Reset OneDrive Configuration
- Check Internet Explorer Settings
- Group Policy or Registry
Still not working?
- Test with a different network (e.g. mobile hotspot) → Could be DNS or firewall issue.
- Try creating a new Windows user account, then try to set up OneDrive there.
- Try using OneDrive Web (https://onedrive.live.com) temporarily until client works.
- Contact your IT Admin if you're on an enterprise-managed device — they may have policies in place.
Hope this helps you.
