Have they installed Office 2016 C2R? If this is the case, they should already have the latest version of Groove (which is part of latest Office). If not, they could download the standalone version (see https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2903984/how-to-install-the-onedrive-for-business-sync-client-for-sharepoint-2013-and-sharepoint-online).
