UPDATE: O365 E2 Grant Discontinuation effective October 1st
Grace_Chang has something changed in regard to this - the following slightly ambiguous email has been sent out to a customer; reading the FAQ it reads that a grant could still be renewed prior to the start of October into E2 - and presumably for 12 months so in the example below from August 1 2023 to August 1 2024 but I have just been told by licencing support on querying it to clarify it that these grants (started pre-October) are being terminated immediately and data deleted after 90 days rather than just those erroneously actually auto-renewed after that date and that this FAQ published on September 21 2023 is thus presumably out date in point 1 and that the policy had changed!
As I am not totally tech-savvy, if we subscribe to the newer E1 version will our files automatically be transferred? If not, what do we do?

I believe so, you should just need to assign the new licences to all the users in place of the existing E2 ones and it should be seamless as they plans are basically functionality comparable as long as you don't remove the old licences before adding the new ones - there should be a "replace" option that should swap the licences.
