Microsoft 365 Business Premium grant is being discontinued
- Aug 13, 2025
Thank you for your feedback. We encourage you to listen to the Office Hours session that was just released if you were unable to attend. Also, please reach out via the Partner Desk with questions and support options.
I am just wondering if Microsoft has not updated their licensing because either:
- They are waiting to see how much pushback they receive.
- They will update everything the day before the "switch".
I think over 400 have signed the change form. I know it's a drop in the bucket for Microsoft, but hopefully Microsoft sees how much this affects non-profits with smaller budgets. We were initially told this "Grant" was in perpetuity. Hopefully Microsoft is just testing the waters. I guess time will tell.
Switch happened. No change. This appears to be here to stay.

So I went to the office hours discussion this morning. It appears that because the switch was not glitch free, that anyone who was scheduled to be discontinued on July 1st through July 21st was renewed for another year, and so renewed through July 2026. And they are giving a refund if you bought a new subscription. Everything else went as planned with the discontinuation.

Did you actually do anything? I know of two organisations personally whose renewal was up in July 25th. One renewed as the person actively pressed the "renew" button before the date. The other let things slide and there was no option apart from $$$ to continue.
Would be good to know if people actively participated in the the renewal process.

They said today that they had renewed automatically until July 21, 2025 due to a glitch in the process. So they were standing by those renewals. But discontinuing after that date.
