D365 CSP Embed Licenses (Legacy → NCE): Is Admin Center Reassignment Required if Capacity Exists?
- Mar 08, 2026
Hi Lindsay_McCarthy1, are you enrolled in the ISV Cloud Embed program and can provide embedded licenses? If so, then just like other licenses that transition from Legacy CSP to NCE, there should be no differences from the customers side - so no reassignment needed and the subscription itself would automatically transition.
"Dynamics 365 Customer Service Enterprise embedded" and ""Dynamics 365 Customer Service Enterprise" are being recognised as different products within the admin portal. Those 50 users will need to be assigned the new license for service continuity.
All of our prior instructions were there should be no impact to clients including confirmation that new license user assignment was not needed. That the Legacy to NCE is just a back-end (Partner Center) process and not affect clients. The only current available NCE SKU, "Dynamics 365 Customer Service Enterprise" was purchased for our new clients (i.e.: do not have any Legacy) and is working exactly as the Legacy Embed SKU was. So both Licenses work as an "embed". But should there be a "Dynamics 365 Customer Service Enterprise embedded" SKU added to the NCE options so that any new NCE Licenses get added to the Legacy bucket and no client reassignment is needed?

Hi Lindsay,
There should be the standard SKU and an embedded version if you are on the ISV Cloud Embed program. Although the same product, feature parity is not always 100% identical and the embedded version should also be cheaper as it is a discounted version. It sounds like the standard SKU was purchased.
I'm not on the ISV program myself so my experience on this particular SKU is zero but I have experience on the Windows embedded program and CSP to NCE migration. I have attached a document I found which references some info on the ISV Cloud Embed program and Dynamics 365 embedded SKUs and there is an email mentioned at the bottom of the page which may be worth reaching out to for help - email address removed for privacy reasons
