What is the proper way to un-Teamify a group-connected SharePoint site?

Use case:
Owner teamifies a group-connected SharePoint site but decides Teams is not something they would like to pursue.

Is there a way to remove Teams workspace without deleting the Microsoft 365 group that is associated to the SharePoint site? Deleting Teams messes up the SharePoint site permissions since the Group also get deleted.
