We ran into a problem sending your message. Please share diagnostic code 504/1008
Getting this error trying to communicate with someone that had a regular skype account (not Skype for business).
I tried completely removing the contact, readding it, search externally.
His domain is on gmail.com
Anyone know how to fix this?

Would be nice to see someone from Microsoft chime in... PaulProconsult I know this post is over a year old but I thought I would share the fix that worked for me in case someone else stumbles upon this.
My client was having this issue ONLY with external users who had a Skype account with their email address. Adding the optional/advanced Skype DNS records to their zone file solved this issue for me/them.
