Walkie Talkie not working on iPhone in background or when locked

Alas, this is an issue for us and it's February 2026 as I type this. The app receives walkie-talkie messages perfectly when it's open in the foreground, but as soon as you open another app or even if you just go to the home screen, no more walkie-talkie message come through, and no notification is received that you missed a message.
iOS 26.2.1
Teams app version 8.1.1
And judging by the comments here, this did work, then it didn't, then it did again and now it doesn't again. So even if it's fixed tomorrow, it's ultimately an unreliable feature, at least on iOS.
