Unable to view and access the Recording on MS Teams
I am writing to report an urgent issue regarding a very important meeting recording hosted by our team. The recording is critical for our ongoing work. However, we are unable to access it.
When attempting to retrieve the recording, we are presented with the option to “Request Access”, but upon clicking, it results in a File Error 404. This error persists across multiple attempts and devices.

Permissions Issue
- If that person's mailbox or license was disabled, or if the file was moved or deleted, the request won't resolve correctly, resulting in a 404 error.
SharePoint Site Permissions
- Check if a Site Owner, Site Administrator, or SharePoint Administrator can open the meeting recording.
Expired or Deleted Recording
- Some organizations have retention policies (e.g., recordings auto-expire after 60 or 120 days).
- If the retention period has passed, the file is permanently deleted unless manually extended.
