Unable to Add Website tab to a Team Channel
Hello Crew!
Yesterday I was surprised to discover that I can no longer add a "website" tab to a Teams channel.
For detail, in the past I have set up a channel with a website tab to an online survey that allows the users to report details on how the job went. I call that survey "PTR".
As of yesterday, however, when I hit the + button, I am only able to add certain apps. See below.
Searching for "website", or "link" doesn't yield good results. Does anyone know how to post a website tab? I'm thinking that the process has changed and I just don't know how.
I hope I've been specific enough. Here's a screenshot with information redacted of what I used to apply to a channel:

I had a similar issue where the Website tab option disappeared across all our Teams Channels. For me, this happened after installing the Lists app via the Teams Admin Centre. I think this threw out any tabs/apps created using that + Icon along the top of the channel. This also added a "Page" tab which was a blank new Loop paragraph page.
Microsoft Support has been useless with my ticket, despite it being fairly urgent as several users relied on Website tab links to locations and forms.
Solution
I found that the Website app was set as unavailable for all users in Teams Admin Centre
Head to:
Teams Admin Centre → Teams Apps → Manage Apps → Search “Website” → Users and Groups → Availability → Edit Availability → Set to “Everyone”
The Installs dropdown is still greyed out for me, so I’m unable to change that setting
This restored the Website tabs after like 30 or so mins (Maybe more. Not sure)
You may need to Quit Teams (Right Click Taskbar Icon)
or
Head to:
Add or Remove Programs → Microsoft Teams → ... → Advanced Options →
Select Terminate, then Repair, then Reset.
Open Teams again and they should appear as normal. See before and after below

Note: Task's is probably another app which I haven't found yet. We still have some other tabs looking like this which I need to find and restore, possibly in the same way, or adding the app again via the Admin Centre / requesting the app then approving etc.

JakeP870 I tried adding a Website tab to a Teams channel yesterday but surprisingly found the option was gone. In the past, I had set up Website tabs to connect our project channels to external surveys like your PTR one.
These helped capture feedback from the team. It seems Microsoft removed Website tabs in channels. Now we only have limited options to link channels to websites. This is an unfortunate change because Website tabs were useful to connect channels to sites like surveys and trackers. While we can post web links as messages, it's just not the same experience. The loss of Website tabs makes channel integrations harder.
I know my teams will be frustrated when learning this feature was taken away. I recommend we all provide Microsoft feedback on this change.
Hopefully if enough customers speak up, they could bring Website tabs back.

I can still add a Website to a tab in private (or shared) channel.
There is an issue with this option, sometimes is there, sometimes is not, but when I sign out and sign back in to new Microsoft Teams the option of adding a Website is there.
Where did you found that Microsoft removed the option to Website tabs in channels? Do you have any article or documentation to back this up?
Microsoft is only making changes how the Website tab works in the new Teams client (Starting April 2024), but not completely removing the option of a Website tab in channels.

- Have same issue here and I even tried a reset of app and logout and back in. I really dont know how we are to roll to this version when there are still issues that are in yet to be resolved

I have signed-out and then signed-in to New Microsoft Teams and after that I can add a Website to a private or a shared channel.
Other users in our organisation have done the same and it works from them too.

what kind of channel in Teams are you refering at, is it perhaps private?
I cannot add a website to a private or shared channel.
I can only create websites in standard channels.Please click Mark as Best Response & Like if my post helped you to solve your issue.

(LinkedIn)- I am having the same issue JakeP870, I have checked in Teams Admin that the website app is allowed and is added to the correct app permissions policy ( I have checked all other to double check), but it will not show in the store or as a app to add as a tab? The team is private, and I have one open channel which it will not show for

I did find that we can create links in the files tab by clicking "New" then "Link". I guess this serves about the same function, it just looked so neat and tidy up in the tabs than I'm really gonna miss making the old website tabs 😞Which version of Teams are you on? I'm on

The client version is 49/23111630013.I was able to see website in my apps. I added a URL and it seemed to work for me. It was very slow to load and now I also see an additional warning with an option to Open in Browser.
