teams searching capabilities

I am very very confused and was told I have to go to this community.  I have office 365 and logged into teams with mailto:cmillan476@aol.com and was unable to search for any teams.  it just said "hmm can't find that team" no matter what I typed in.  Then I was told that office 365 is completely useless for teams and that my login is useless.  Then was told to sign up for a new account and each time I entered an email it said either you can't use a personal email address or it said we can't find that organization.  I am stuck in a vicious circle.  How does my office 365 subscription that i pay for allow me to search for teams so I can find a team I need to join on Saturday May 2nd?
