Teams messages search function does not show full conversation
Not sure if an update solved it or if cache was the problem to begin with, but it works as intended now.

jonord Still doesn't work for me even after clearing cache
Microsoft Teams Version 1.5.00.9163 (64-bit) on windows
I did a search for an old 1-on-1 chat message, clicked "go to message" and it still shows me just the one single isolated solitary message with no context.

All,
This was posted earlier in this thread, but the preferred workaround is:
- Locate the chat that you are trying to search, or where the singular message resides.
- "Pop" it out into a separate window.
- Go back to search results, and click on the message to go to it.
Now, the message will be shown in the popped out window in full context.
It is a silly limitation and shows that they can fix this issue, but for some reason nobody has taken the time to do so.- phlyxMay 05, 2022Iron Contributor
All,
This was posted earlier in this thread, the preferred workaround DOES NOT WORK IF WHAT YOU ARE SEEKING IS IN A TEAM MESSAGE AND NOT A PRIVATE CHAT!!!! The vast majority (maybe 99.9%) of the conversations we look for are in project specific threads with many people contributing to. That is why they call it TEAMS and not CHAT because the purpose of the software is to allow TEAMS (a group (an assemblage of persons) organized for work or activity) to work together. We all have many ways to CHAT privately but that is not what TEAMS is for. FIX THIS!!!!
On a side note, if MS does not have the skills or abilities to actually fix this, contact the developers over at Slack because the search function and jump to COMPLETE message stuff works flawlessly over there.

It works for me only if it's something recent; something in the cache (e.g. last 3-6 months or whatever). If it's something over a year old it never works.
I tried again today after clearing cache and similar results.
What's the worst is it's those things from years ago that are the hardest to remember.
Teams continually demonstrates itself as the worst IM client I've ever used in my life. I can't believe it's 2022 and this is what we're offered.
