Teams files permissions
Got an issue whereby students can delete files placed in a Team. If teacher places files in the Class Materials folder its fine.
However if you create a new channel under a Team, that channel doesnt have a Class Materials folder in the files section so students can delete the file
- Hi Ayaz Younis
This is default behavior. See this article

A workaround to this is you could create your own read-only folders in those channels - I use this a lot in the Teams I create for teaching (being an MCT)
Hope that answers your question.

Thanks Christopher. Hmm, there ought to be a class materials folder in each channel really. I have had to manually create these folders for a Team, and set permissions.
I think it should be the other way around. All files placed in the Files tab of a Team, should be read only, and if you want students to edit files, you have to create a folder with permissions set.
I cant envisage any cases where teachers put files up, that they want students to edit too? Students even had the Delete option!
You have Assignments, and Forms if you want student feedback.
- I agree.
So I have raised a uservoice for your here

Would recommend to vote for it to push it up the agenda
Hope that answers your question
