Teams alerting others that i am online / offline whenever i unlock my machine, though its offline

It seems that despite selecting the 'Offline' status on MS Teams, people are still receiving notifications whenever i lock and unlock my machine. This issue is very frustrating. appreciate if someone can tell me if there is a solution for this.

PS : due to this people ping me though i am just here to finish my pending work in offline mode.

just to add : appears to be people we have selected my contact as notify when online are the the ones getting the notification (culprits)
