Is it only the speaker that is off or is it the microphone too? Are you using a headset or some other device? There are a couple of certified devices that can be used and Teams should work with them without a problem, other devices can work but since they have not been certified there can be minor problems like this.

This is just using the laptop speakers with no headphones plugged in.
The speaker is muted and the microphone is not, so other people can hear me but I have to unmute through the settings to be able to hear them.
