SharePoint Template with Internal Use Only

Hello, I am looking for a solution for how to create a SharePoint modern site template with a default "Internal Use Only" document library. Please advise if this is doable.

  • Hi Anju_Singh ,

To create a SharePoint modern site template with a default "Internal Use Only" document library, you can follow these steps:

    1. **Create a new SharePoint modern site**: Navigate to your SharePoint site and click on "Create site" or "New" to start creating a new site.

    2. **Choose the site template**: Select the appropriate site template for your needs. You can choose a blank template or any other template that closely matches your requirements.

    3. **Customize the site**: Once the site is created, you can customize it by adding web parts, modifying the navigation, or applying a theme as per your preferences.

    4. **Create the "Internal Use Only" document library**: To create the default document library with the "Internal Use Only" label, follow these steps:
    - Go to the site contents by clicking on "Site Contents" in the left-hand navigation menu.
    - Click on "+ New" and select "Document library" from the dropdown menu.
    - Give the document library a name, such as "Internal Use Only."
    - In the "Settings" section, click on "More options."
    - In the library settings, under the "Permissions and Management" category, click on "Permissions for this document library."
    - Adjust the permissions to restrict access to only internal users or the desired user group.

    5. **Save the site as a template**: Once you have created the document library and made any other desired customizations, you can save the site as a template to reuse it in the future. To do this:
    - Go to the SharePoint admin center.
    - Click on "Active sites" or "Sites" in the left-hand navigation menu.
    - Find and select the site you want to save as a template.
    - In the site details pane, click on "Save as template."
    - Provide a name and description for the template.
    - Click on "Save" to create the site template.

Now, whenever you need to create a new site with the "Internal Use Only" document library, you can use the saved template. The new site will include the document library along with other customizations you made during the template creation process.

Thanks for your quick response. I don't see this option in the SharePoint admin center. Could you please share the screenshot

In the site details pane, click on "Save as template."
