Islands mode without Edge
- Apr 17, 2020Right Federation on Teams can be enabled but not on Skype for Business as no EDGE is present. Yes then two separate infra without interop SFB <> Teams could maybe work but Meeting Migration Service will not work either next to not being able to move contacts.
Thanks!
Since they are no Edge currently, so there is no Federation enabled on SFB, looking to avoid setting up Edge

Interesting topic. Let's suppose you have on premises SfB with no plans to migrate to the cloud but want to use Teams. If you have federation in place with your SfB on premises and want to use Teams with external organizations, then federation is not an option. You have to utilize guest access. Guest access may be fine for you but it will be a pain for the guests who have to sign in and out of their organizations tenant to sign into yours in order to communicate. One other thing, you won't have calendar access in your Teams if you don't go hybrid or at the least implement the commands to enable OAuth with your on premises exchange org. Can you implement OAuth for calendar access for your on premises Exchange mailbox if you have on premises SfB?
Thoughts?
Sound about right?
