Push to talk for Samsung Xcover Pro
Yzlance We just bought this phone to test with Teams as well as there is ZERO information on how to configure the PTT specific feature with Teams walkie talkie feature. The only option i can see is configuring the button to open Teams, but that's not what it's designed to do.
We're supposed to be able to click the PTT button this phone and it will work as a walkie talkie in the Teams app (even when locked). The only way I can use the walkie talkie feature is to open the app, click on the walkie talkie then the channel I need then click on the screen to talk. That's what every other phone can do. What specifically on this Samsung XCover Pro with this very specific PTT feature for Microsoft Teams exclusively can do this? No details anywhere.
I was able to get the button working by following these steps. During the process you have to sign up for knox trial unfortunately. Everything else is done through Intune. https://insights.samsung.com/2020/06/29/how-to-program-buttons-on-your-galaxy-xcover-pro/

Kurt Wait what? Where does it say that in order to use a button on this new phone that we have to buy InTune and Knox??? Just to use the side button?
Microsoft has now told me that Walkie Talkie is only in preview mode and isn't supported yet sent me KB articles from Samsung, not Microsoft, saying we have to use InTune in order to enable the Walkie Talkie feature, yet it's already there.

I was sent this https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/roadmap?filters=Microsoft%20Teams&searchterms=57157
So I'm confused as to why we need both Knox and InTune to use the PTT feature when Microsoft is now saying it's not even yet available. I really wish there's actually software companies that can help customers with its products. It's so frustrating.

By the way, you can use the button and in settings change it to open any app but to have it do a function within an app like push to talk within the teams app, that's where the need to use intune\knox comes into play. I think that's because it's an OEM level type of change to the button. Again, it could be more of a Samsung requirement to use MDM software (intune or similar) along with a knox license.
