Problem with task and channel notifications

Hello,

So we have Teams at our school and the policy is to create tasks in the subject channels. I created a task and set the notifications for "Mathematics" but the notification still appeared in the "General" channel. What could be the problem here? Other teachers noticed same behaviour...
