I would normally create a page in the SharePoint site(or use the homepage) and add in some navigation to the document libraries (quick links) that exist in the site and then add that SharePoint page to the Team as a tab, call it something like "Team Documents".
Opening a file will open in the Browser, which when closing the location of the file will be maintained in Teams.
