Have you tried toggling the corresponding setting under Settings > General > Open chats in > New window.

that is not the functionality he meant. I want any new incoming messages to open popped up in a new window like how every other messenger does, this is helpful as otherwise any new incoming chat is missed hiding in the list of names as a mere bold characters on the name.
