New Audio-Only Recording Option for Teams Meetings
A new audio-only recording option for Teams meeting suppresses the video feed from meeting participants to generate the MP4 file for the meeting recording. The idea is to better preserve user privacy during recording playbacks. Few will miss the video stream because the audio is usually more important. The audio is also the basis for the meeting transcript, and that leads to AI-generated outputs like meetings summaries and action items.

Great example of a simple and useful feature, which somehow can be turned into total opposite of what customers really wanted, only by Microsoft. I heard that you don't want to record webcam video during presentations, so we'll improve it by removing the recording of presentation as well. 👏
While I agree with the premise that few care about seeing colleagues faces on video in the recording, the thing that most people are looking at the recording for is the slides and shared screen content that's not included in audo-only recordings.
Fair point. But you'd hope that content shared during a meeting would be available in OneDrive...

Far from reality! What about live onscreen action, for example in a training for a software application? Or even simpler, how do you want to match the recorded discussion to a certain part of a 50-page document in the aftermath? You need to see what people are talking about. This feature is useless for 99% of my meetings!
