Names with extended characters are not displayed correctly

Plural German Verträge is a perfectly accepted name for a Team but the SharePoint backing folder name just ommits the ä yielding Vertrge (missing an ä) as the site name. Moreover if a Word document was saved the site name is displayed in clear, probably conflicting if a site with the actual name Vertrge is sot

We live in an international world and this should not be happening these days.
