MS Teams on MacOS in full window "minimises" when clicking hyperlink
Hello everyone!
I was trying to find a solution for this very strange behavior of teams on a MacOS.
The issue is very simple to reproduce on any Apple device
First things first - versions I am running.
MacOS: 13.3.1
Teams: 1.6.00.11156
Scenario #1: No external monitors.
Open Teams in full window mode - (That green button on the top left)
Open your preferred browser (does not matter which one) in full Windows mode
In Teams click any hyperlink
- You will be redirected to your main screen. The link will open up in full window mode in the browser, but you won't see it unless you switch back to the browser window manually.
Scenario #2: External monitors are connected
Open teams in full window mode on Monitor#1
Open your preferred browser in full window mode on Monitor#2
In Teams click any hyperlink
- The browser will navigate to the webpage (All good). But the screen with Teams will switch to the default desktop (It is very frustrating and people are telling us that it minimizes 🙂 )
Can someone please tell us - is that a bug or a feature?
Also if someone can point me to any other treads that may reveal how to fix that behavior I will be grateful!

Update Microsoft Teams: Ensure that you have the latest version of Microsoft Teams installed on your macOS device. Microsoft frequently releases updates to address bugs and improve performance. Check for updates in the Teams app or download the latest version from the Microsoft website.
Clear Teams cache: Clearing the Teams cache might help resolve the issue. Quit Teams completely, then go to the following location and delete the "Application Cache" and "Blob Storage" folders:
~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Teams/
Note: The tilde (~) represents your user directory.
Restart Teams and see if the problem persists.
Adjust Teams window mode: Try changing the window mode of Teams from full screen to a different mode, such as maximized or normal windowed mode. To do this, click and hold the green button in the top left corner of the Teams window and choose a different window mode. Test if the issue persists in the new window mode.
Change display settings: If you're using multiple monitors, try adjusting the display settings on your macOS device. Go to "System Preferences" > "Displays" and check the arrangement of your displays. You can try changing the arrangement or adjusting the resolutions to see if it affects the behavior of Teams.
Report the issue: If the problem persists after trying the above steps, it's recommended to report the issue to Microsoft Support. You can submit a support ticket or post on the Microsoft Teams community forums, where Microsoft experts and other users can assist you further.- EvgeniiChizhovCopper Contributor
Konbarlas thank you, I was trying ChatGPT as well also this is copied from reddit 🙂
I am still waiting for MS to respond for my raised ticket.
However I suggest people with Teams and MacOS to test this - as you can replicate it very easily
- EvgeniiChizhovCopper Contributor- Reinstalling Teams from Mac - does not help
- Using the latest version of Teams 1.6.00.13252 - same issue
