Microsoft teams recording

Hello,

Past meeting our recording was started by a guest who doesn't have a license to microsoft teams. But to use the recordings you need a license. Now the recording (started by the quest) is nowhere to be found. Is there any chance we still could find the recording somewhere?

Usually you can watch it after the meeting on stream, but because the guest doesn't have an account it's lost.

If there is anyone who has an answer to my question, it would be much appreciated.

Kind regards, Marc

Marc93 Hi Marc, I confirm what @SuleimanDC said.

There's a reason for that (but there's a workaround): recording a meeting means to be able to save the video in Stream, but an external member shouldn't be able to use the archiving space of your company.  The solution is to use third party product: I did it using OBS Studio (that is open source), then "capture window" as source.

Marc93 Are you sure about this? People from other organisations and guests shouldn't be able to record for meetings organised in your tenant.

  • Hi Marc93

Can you reach out to them and see if the recording has gone into their tenant in Stream? This could be the case. I would advise in the future that you may want to use presenter and attendee controls and this would prevent anyone but the presenter from being able to record the meeting

If it is in their tenant, get them to download it and share it with you

    Hope that answers your question

    Best, Chris
