Microsoft teams and VPN
Hello,
I am going to Asia and I have some questions regarding the use of VPN and microsoft teams.
For the context :
- I am working in France
- I will travel in Asia for a few months
- My boss doesn't care where I work (he even encourages me to travel lol)
- But for company policy my IP needs to be in France
- This is my own computer and I am checking for a VPN
My main use of the VPN will be for microsoft teams because I have 1 or 2 meetings per month
The problem is : I’ve heard people say that Microsoft teams sometimes fails to report the vpn address and still reports the local one
My questions are :
- Did you ever meet this kind of issue ?
- Is it possible for the host or IT to check where is located my IP via teams ?

mimi_yunyongtin3023030321 The good news is that generally, a VPN will successfully route your Microsoft Teams traffic through the VPN server location when connected. So if your VPN assigns you a French IP address, Teams would show you as located in France. In case the VPN connection drops during a Teams call, Teams could briefly reveal your actual Asia IP address before reconnecting.
Some VPNs assign IP addresses known to Microsoft as VPN ranges. Teams may show your location as the VPN server (France), but indicate you are connecting through a VPN.
