Microsoft Team storage.
Hi TalalJavaid
- For files in channels it uses SharePoint Storage, for files in private chat it uses OneDrive
- SharePoint storage comes in a common pool: it is 1Tb + 10Gb per licence purchased (see link below)
- You could potentially restrict Teams storage by restricting the SharePoint storage, however it's not really recommended (see string https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Microsoft-Teams/Storage-Quota-for-Microsoft-Teams/td-p/106923). However, this article will discuss more about storage and limits (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/limits-specifications-teams)
- Can purchase additional file storage for SharePoint should it hit the site limit directly through billing if you are direct with Microsoft or via your CSP Partner (see link below)
See here for more on SharePoint storage per tenant and purchasing more.

Hope that answers your questions!

Thanks for the detail Information. Pretty much understood just few clarifications.
as you told me , SharePoint storage comes in a common pool: it is 1Tb + 10Gb per licence purchased
i have 35 users. so my total share point storage will be 1Tb+ (10GB + 35 User) = 1TB + 350 GB ??
can you share me a link or explain location from where i can monitor the usage of our organization's share point storage . And if required, delete data from share point storage .
Thanks and Regards,
Thanks and Regards,
- Jun 18, 2019That is correct 1Tb+ (10GB + 35 User) = 1TB + 350 GB.

You can also monitor with Powershell: http://vmustard.com/monitoring-sharepoint/

Best, Chris- Jun 18, 2019You can easily check the usage of your sites in the modern SPO Admin Center so you don't really need PowerShell to do task, but of course it's perfect to make some automation to get that info. In regards about how to manage quotas, you can absolutely do that and stablish, as part of your governance plan, a standar quota value for any SPO site in your tenant defining also a threshold for the quota so an e-mail is automatically sent when the quota of your sites is reaching that threshold
- Jun 18, 2019Correctly calculated!
