Issues signing up for Teams Free

When signing up for MS Teams Free with my personal o365 account, I'm getting stuck in an MS webpage loop. Suspect auth issue with my acct. Help!

1. From the Teams product page: https://products.office.com/en-au/microsoft-teams/group-chat-software?rtc=1 I click on Sign In

2. I enter my O365 personal logon account an pw

3. I'm presented with the following message: "You're not on Teams yet, but you can set it up for your organization." I click on the button Sign Up For Teams

4. I'm taken back to the first Teams product page, then the process repeats

any suggestions?
