Issue with Table Editing in New Microsoft Teams Editor

Description:
In the new version of Microsoft Teams, the table editing functionality has changed. In the classic Teams editor, users could easily select, copy, delete, or highlight entire rows in a table. This feature no longer works in the new Teams chat, which impacts tasks that require frequent table adjustments, such as formatting, deleting rows in bulk, or copying content.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Open the new Teams editor and insert a table into a chat or channel message.
  2. Try selecting an entire row by clicking or dragging across it.
  3. Notice that it's not possible to select, copy, or delete the row.

Note: This feature works fine in text mode after the message is sent (outside of the editor).

Expected Behavior:
The editor should allow users to easily select and manipulate entire rows in tables, as was possible in the classic editor.

Current Behavior:
In the new editor, users can only manage table content on a cell-by-cell basis, making bulk actions more difficult.

  • Hello,

I followed the steps, I can't remember how it worked in classic teams but I could verify what you say.

Maybe you can give it a try by posting that feedback here https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/feedback/forum/ad198462-1c1c-ec11-b6e7-0022481f8472
