Integrate Skype for Business and Yammer into Microsoft Teams
We are currently using Yammer and Microsoft Teams for communication and we also love some old features of Skype for Business. We know, Skype for Business will be replacing with Microsoft Teams but one feedback would be ability to run Microsoft Teams in standalone server and as on-premise (I know it has been discussed but I asking again because it is important). From cloud point of view, Microsoft Public Cloud is safe and secure but for some use cases companies would prefer on-premise so they have control over communication in their own servers and that is why they chose Skype for Business and if they could not run Microsoft Teams in Private Cloud, they might switch to different solution as on-premise is their key requirements.
I am using Yammer for some communications and it is cool, but I need to switch between Yammer and Microsoft Teams , it would be nice if Yammer was also integrated into Microsoft teams so there was only Microsoft Teams and it could do job for Yammer and Skype for Business (it is doing most tasks for Skype for Business right now).
Hi,
Teams will replace Skype for Business Online, not Skype for Business Server edition but there will probably not be much development in the Skype. All new features will come to Teams.
I don't think there will be a server edition of Teams, what been discussed and that I think will come to Teams is a solution similar to the SBA (Survival Branch Appliance) for Skype. With this you will have some hardware on-premises that can handle calls when there is no connection to Teams.
You can add a Yammer tab in a Teams channel already.
Microsoft will also release a Yammer app for Teams, you can read about it here:
- Reza_Ameri-ArchivedBronze ContributorThank you for your valuable input, I believe it is important to discuss on-premise solution for business communication, either continue with Skype for Business or may be Teams on-premise server or any other solution.
In general, requirements are the one available in Skype for Business and/or Microsoft Teams but data center should be within the company. For now, I would recommend companies to go for Skype for Business if they want on-premise solution but for long term , there is need for replacement.
