Files Tab in Private Channels
I created our first Private Channel earlier this week. Today I get a call from one of the members of that Private Channel and they cannot access the Files tab. They can participate in Conversations, but when they access the Files tab, they see an access denied message. I checked the membership and they were listed as a member of the channel. I promoted them to an owner and they were able to access Files. I demoted them to member, and once again they received an access denied message on the Files tab. I checked the underlying SharePoint permissions and it appears that members of a private channel are not added to any of the Groups in the site collection permissions. Can anyone else duplicate this?
I have a pending support request open with MS.

I found the same exact issue. I am the site collection admin and it affected me also. Andy Stout . Removing and re-adding members to the channel does appear to work
- They should be added to the members group in that site collection! Is this for all members or only one?
I’ll try replicate!

I was able to reproduce this issue as well as find a solution.
During creation of the private channel, the members are not always added to the members group of the new site collection. I suspect that this occurs if the site collection is still being provisioned when the Add Channel and Add Members process has completed within Teams.
The solution for me was to remove and re-add the members to the private channel within Teams.
I believe this is a bug.
- Yeah, sounds like a back end delay
