Error in Outlook when Updating with External Teams Link

I'm having this *frustrating* error as I'm trying to updated an outlook invite with an External Teams link and when I try to send the updated invite to the group of internal colleagues get the following pop up:

"This invite cannot be sent because Teams meeting details in the body are different from this meeting. Would you like us to fix the meeting invite?"

When I click yes, it removes the external link and replaces it with a different one (which I cannot have as a solution). I haven't run into this issue before and need to resolve asap. Any help would be immensely appreciated.

I found that if I use Teams to edit the meeting invitation (not Outlook), I can paste in the updated block of Teams invitation information (including meeting URL) and have the invitation updated successfully.

I know this is a couple of years old but ran across this issue today. You can Copy/Paste your original meeting into the new or additional desired time slot. This preserves the details from the original Teams Meeting.

Dominique Whittaker Hi Dominique, I have noticed this as well- a workaround is to use the Outlook Web App to send the invite - create a new event using OWA, paste the external Teams meeting details, make sure "Teams Meeting" is turned off on the invite.

Let me know if that helps 🙂
