End user just created a Team from a SharePoint Site but shouldn't be able to.
Just had an end user create a team within the Microsoft Teams app from an already existing SharePoint team site. I didn't think this would be possible since I've locked down creation of groups (Manage who can create groups ) and turned off the ability for end users to create SharePoint sites. Is there another setting out there that I need to change so an end user can't turn a site into a team on their own?
Thats the issue - the Office 365 group is already created so locking down group creation doesnt have an effect on this scenario.
At the moment there doesnt appear to be a way to stop this - see this thread - with reference to user voice - https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/microsoft-teams/locking-down-team-creation/m-p/143583
Looks like a general comms needs to go out to SharePoint Site owners to tell them not to do it.

Hi tedewaard ,
The SharePoint team site wasn't already in an Office 365 Group from what you are saying?

Hey Andrew Hodges ,
So we created a SharePoint team site, which then created an Office 365 group but doesn't automatically create a Microsoft Team (we are working to roll out Teams to the org but started with SharePoint sites a few months ago). So the user was an owner of the Group and he was then able to create a Team. The big issue being it sent out emails to 200 users welcoming them to their new Microsoft Team and telling them to login but we haven't rolled it out to them.
