Drop your files here box won't go away
My normal chat bar has been replaced by the file sharing bar. How do I return to a normal chat bar??

I just had the same issue, my fix (for now) has been dragging an item into the chat, pressing the X on the following prompt.

With my issue, it seems to happen when you click and drag a file to a browser.
The bug is still not fixed, I just had the issue again and yesterday a few times. I am on version 1.6.00.33362 (64 bit), last updated on 13/12/2022 (2 days ago).
PLEASE MICROSOFT FIX THIS ANNOYING BUG. Whatever the causes is for the drop zone not to go away, at least let us press ESC or something to reset the input back to text instead of dragging&dropping a file.

I used the tip from someone here. Use the Task Manager to close the program. It worked for me. 😉 I hope this helps (if you haven't used this option yet). 🙂
