Drop your files here box won't go away
My normal chat bar has been replaced by the file sharing bar. How do I return to a normal chat bar??

I just had the same issue, my fix (for now) has been dragging an item into the chat, pressing the X on the following prompt.
I hope this helps.
With my issue, it seems to happen when you click and drag a file to a browser.
UPDATE: Microsoft Engineer confirmed that this has been identified and will be patched on December 15th. They actually had me walk them through re-creating it.

I'm told its fixed in this release and it's meant to be out in the wild already.

PS - You have Microsoft Teams Version 1.5.00.33362 (64-bit). It was last updated on 12/12/2022.
My Post was 13/12/2022 - The day after updating. Proving unequivocally, that Microsoft did sweet F.A. to resolve this bug... again.- So, it appears the updated client isn't working either... at least on some teams clients. I was on the phone yesterday to MS Support and they are taking it back to the PG to investigate further. Sorry I wish I had better news on the topic 😞
- The bug is still not fixed, I just had the issue again and yesterday a few times. I am on version 1.6.00.33362 (64 bit), last updated on 13/12/2022 (2 days ago).
PLEASE MICROSOFT FIX THIS ANNOYING BUG. Whatever the causes is for the drop zone not to go away, at least let us press ESC or something to reset the input back to text instead of dragging&dropping a file.
With the collective energy on this thread, I sure hope this fixes it! If not, We The People (of this thread) will keep running the ball for yards! 🙂
