Drop your files here box won't go away
My normal chat bar has been replaced by the file sharing bar. How do I return to a normal chat bar??

I just had the same issue, my fix (for now) has been dragging an item into the chat, pressing the X on the following prompt.
I hope this helps.
With my issue, it seems to happen when you click and drag a file to a browser.
December 13, 2022 - I google the 'Drop your files here.' error and find that Microsoft have known about this fault for more than 1-year and have failed to do any meaningful work to resolve the problem. We maintain over 1,000 Teams Users for our org and this issue is happening more and more often.
