Drop your files here box won't go away
My normal chat bar has been replaced by the file sharing bar. How do I return to a normal chat bar??

I just had the same issue, my fix (for now) has been dragging an item into the chat, pressing the X on the following prompt.
I hope this helps.
With my issue, it seems to happen when you click and drag a file to a browser.
UPDATE: Microsoft Engineer confirmed that this has been identified and will be patched on December 15th. They actually had me walk them through re-creating it.

Good news on the coming fix.
While F1 does clear it, I've also found just trying to drag a random image in your chat window down to it also clears it which is faster for me.
Slightly dragging one of those images causes it, and full dragging it down to your chat box makes it go away.
