Contact list no longer available in new Teams version
I will add my voice to this thread. I found small area of "Contact List" and the Contact Groups within it a (clunky) workaround for handling multiple department contacts. The obscenely HUGE (and frankly pointless) history display in the same window was just salt in the wound.
I hoped a better user experience would be available in "new" Teams, but it seems what little that made it bearable has been removed (in classic Microsoft fashion). I reverted within 2 minutes of trying the "new" version.
The ability to group contacts makes a nasty UI a bit better to use. Losing it seems counter-intuitive to anything approaching a smooth workflow for anyone with multiple contacts in multiple departments.
Skotzmun As mentioned above, the People app is the replacement for Contacts in the new Teams client, might not be available to everyone yet but it is coming.
- BongoFuryApr 01, 2024Copper Contributorpeople app is not better
- TimJansenApr 22, 2024Copper ContributorI agree , its not. but if people are forced to be on it. At least we found where they tried to hide this unfinished parody feature requirement.
- David_Kirk01Apr 29, 2024Copper ContributorAs other have said please bring the contact list back. My company has just rolled out the new version, but thankfully we still have the option to use the old one (which I will be using)
- BongoFuryApr 01, 2024Copper ContributorI just want to know, will the contact list return or will it not?

StevenC365 don't know if you've seen that this is now available, unfortunately it doesn't show presence on the main view, only if you click in to each item in the list can you see the user status.
Not sure how the resolution to an issue which has been so clearly explained and documented could be so poorly thought out. It's almost as though MS have intentionally left out the 1 requirement that everyone is asking for!
- SkotzmunSep 14, 2023Brass ContributorSteven Collier - you'll forgive me if the combination of "Microsoft have randomly removed a usable feature" and "Coming soon from Microsoft to replace..." does not fill me with confidence.
I believe the phrase "Thirty years of hurt" sums it up quite well. 😕- StevenC365Sep 17, 2023MVP
Skotzmun Don't use preview features then if you don't like living with preview limitations.
- SkotzmunSep 17, 2023Brass ContributorSteven Collier - surely the point is to try to use preview features and feed back, whether they are brilliant or a pile of old toss? Currently, it's the latter and my response (including the general ennui at Microsoft's track record of taking a poorly-implemented thing and making it worse) is the feedback.
To be honest I don't quite understand the point you are making as surely this is how this all works: funnily enough I am *not* using preview "features" because the "feature" I need to use day-to-day doesn't exist... there's nothing for me to use.
