Collaboration with partner organisation colleagues
Hi,
I've set up MS Teams for our product team and I am encountering an important issue.
We all have standard payed member access to our domain & channels.
We have an engineering partner who also use MS Teams with payed access like us internally.
Both teams collaborate daily, so I've invited our partner team to our domain as guests.
They can join de channels but they cannot send files in private chats.
My questions:
1- As both teams have payed accounts in their respective companies, why they are restricted on file sharing ?
2- Should they have paid accounts in both domains, so pay twice for each member ?
3- Is there a setting somewhere which allows access to file sharing in private chats ?
Thank you for your help,
Best regards.

- Sharing files within Teams is tied to OneDrive for Business, and Guest users do not get ODFB provisioned in the "resource" tenant (only in their "home" tenant). They can update files to channels, as channels use the Team's ODFB storage.
You can refer to this article for more details about the Guest experience: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/guest-experience
As an alternative, they can share the file from their home org, then copy/paste the link in the chat.- Lingua-AttackCopper Contributor
Hi VasilMichev
Thank you very much for your reply and for the work around tip.
However I would hope things to be much more easier. We are in 2023, in any communication tool, attaching files to chat, is just so easy and practical. It is unbelievably surprising to need customer support for such a no brainer task in a tool made by a company such as Microsoft...
I wish they would invest more in User experience in their products.
Best regards
