Chat in Call on iPad - Having to Add Participants

Hello,

We have noticed that if we start a call and add participants to it (not through an invite) and we try to use the chat feature, it is making us add participants to the chat and it is not recognizing the participants of the call.  Is there a way to fix that or are we doing something wrong.  This only occurs on the iPad.

  • Hi Becki_Isbell

So it sounds like you are successfully bringing someone in. Is this an internal or an external user? When you say it is not adding them to Chat, so are we talking about the Chat whilst within the Meeting, as they should just be able to click chat and then start typing messages.

But with you saying you have to add them to the chat, makes me think you are referring to the chat area of Teams on the left.

So just a few things to be mindful of, if the Meeting is a Meet Now or Scheduled Team Meeting and not created from within a Channel of a Team or set against a Channel of a Team, participants should be able to chat during a meeting and afterwards they will find the meeting chat via the Chat navigation element.

If it is a Meeting that is bound to a channel of a Team, again participants should be able to chat during a meeting but any chat basically becomes a post against the meeting entry in the channel posts section of the respective channel. Also for the Channel meetings, you will need to be a member of the Team that the meeting is being held against.

So could you clarify where you are adding them to chat beyond adding them as a participant?

    Thanks

    Henry
