Cannot add phone to MS Teams account as phone number associated to Microsoft Account

When ever I attempt to add my contact number to my MS Teams account it gives me the message this it is already taken. After speaking with a help agent from Teams, I was informed the reason why I cannot add your number to MS Teams website and all platform since that number is already added and used on your Microsoft Account. Does anyone have any knowledge on this issue, and is there a fix or way to remedy this? Thank you
