Allows users to move or hide the Teams Share Content Toolbar
The Teams Share Content Toolbar (You're sharing your screen) in Teams Meeting prevents users from adding or closing browser tabs. There is no way to hide it, unpin, it or move it.
The Teams Share Content toolbar should be programmed like the Windows Remote Desktop Protocol toolbar. This toolbar allows you to click, drag and slide it out of the way or hide it, when you are viewing a remote computer screen.

I was told by a team member yesterday that you can now move this bar. There now seems to be 6 little dots to the left of the share button that will allow you to drag your red share button out of the was so you can click on the underlying browser tabs.
Tested on my PC (not sure if it shows on Mac). Hope this is helpful.β

I couldnt agree more with this request. the top bar seen during screen share always makes it impossible to click some of the central tabs in a browser... truly crippling and annoying
- chrismenardtrainingCopper ContributorThe Presenter toolbar can be moved now. https://youtu.be/bZgj3OW09m8
- erictomlinsrCopper ContributorThis doesn't work for me. I don't have the 3 dots in the taskbar next to the times as shown in the video. I thought maybe a version thing, but I have the latest:
Version
You have Microsoft Teams version 24124.2315.2911.3357.
You've got the latest version. It was last checked on 6/17/2024.- Scott KuhlCopper Contributor
erictomlinsr This is fixed, but only in public preview.
Freely move toolbar and optimize video in Microsoft Teams screensharing (microsoft365.com)
- OwenBoyleCopper ContributorThe solutions proposed are Alt-F and Ctrl-W. These are general commands that close the current window, and close the current document, respectively. Neither are specific to the Teams toolbar.
If you make sure the toolbar has the focus, either of these functions will zap it, but if the focus is on the browser, Alt-F4 will close it. It's probably better to use Ctrl-W, since that will only close a tab, if you get it wrong.
A simpler solution would be for MS to put a little 'X' in the top right corner of the toolbar...- erictomlinsrCopper Contributor
OwenBoyle Thanks for the clarification.

Another workaround would be to enable Vertical Tabs. This has the added advantage of providing a superior browser tab experience (in my opinion, at least
).
- ec_momof3Copper ContributorThanks Ryan! Not a bad suggestion, I'm going to give it a try. The challenge when presenting irritates me daily, so this is definitely worth a shot. Thanks for suggesting! π

Brad-CMIit seems there is some evolution in this issue - not sure if this was always there or something new since last background update: When you share a screen in Teams, move your mouse to the Teams icon in the task bar. You will see all your teams windows, and there should be one with the "Screen sharing | stop sharing" content. Close this window, and the annoying "sharing bar" disappears, at least for this share session... for me this is a BIG step ahead to be able to remove the annoying bar!
- erictomlinsrCopper Contributorbut how do you get it back?

christopherBergeAC -CTRL+W also works, and agree it's super annoying.

I just learned the trick today actually from a colleague named Brad π
When presenting, hit ALT+F4 to remove the bar while presenting.
Note this is sharing session based so not permanent.hope this helps!
- erictomlinsrCopper ContributorWhen I hit ALT+F4, it closes whichever open window is on top of the screen I am sharing.
- OwenBoyleCopper ContributorAlt-F4 closes current window, so it will close any window that has the focus. If the Teams tool-bar is in focus, Alt-F4 will close it, but if the focus is actually on the browser, it will close that instead. So you have to be careful.
- executebingCopper ContributorIt works!
Thank you for sharing this π - MaximeBoyerCRACopper ContributorThis sounds like a troll, but it actually works! Select the toolbar, then ALT+F4. OMG! Thank you π
- ec_momof3Copper ContributorI wholeheartedly agree with you! It's very distracting when trying to present a live demo and you have jump between tabs.
