Good news, this actually exists. In an active Teams meeting, hover over that person's video tile or name in the participant list, click the three-dot menu, and select Mute for me (sometimes shown as Spotlight/Mute options depending on your Teams version). It mutes their audio on your end only, everyone else still hears them normally, and it's fully reversible mid-meeting with the same menu.
No settings change or admin action needed, it's a per-call, per-person toggle you control yourself. Should save you the headphone dance entirely.

Cannot confirm. I still only see the button that mutes a person for everyone in the call. Is this still rolling out?
