I really need this feature and am very annoyed it hasnt been implemented when this post is from three years ago and has so much support.
I regularly have meetings where we have to each be at our desktop workstations to screenshare. It is not possible to move. Noise cancelling headphones don't work well enough. I always hear my in-person teammates double, and over our 1-4 hour conference calls it gives me a migraine.
I have to resort to muting my computer whenever particular people are talking. A very tricky extra thing to manage while minuting or multitasking.
This feature is essential!
